GaitWay
Improving the Quality of Life for Children and Adults with Motor Disabilities |
In Fall 2011, we added non-profits to our list of beneficiaries. Periodically we will bring one of our non-profits into the spotlight to show them off and honor them for the esteem they bring to our community. We are very proud of our Tucson community and we are proud to be knitting the fabric of our Tucson together by providing coupon advertising for LOCAL merchants to LOCAL consumers and benefiting LOCAL schools and non-profits. YOU SAVE & TUCSON WINS!
GaitWay
GaitWay was formed in 1998 in an effort to bring Conductive Education to Arizona. Dr. David Rhea, M.D. OB/GYN, and his wife Mary Hare, R.N., B.S.N., M.S.N., formed GaitWay after their granddaughter, Shelby, was born with cerebral palsy. Along with their daughter, they searched for a more effective and intensive program to help Shelby learn. In 1997, after three years of traveling to Conductive Education summer camps, they brought an instructor to Tucson to provide a summer camp to local families. Since 1998, GaitWay has continued to grow. Cerebral palsy (CP) is a disorder that affects muscle tone, movement and motor skills. Additionally it can lead to difficulties with vision, hearing, speech and learning. CP is characterized by an inability to fully control motor function, particularly muscle control and coordination.
Conductive Education (CE) is an intensive, multi-disciplinary approach to education, training and development for individuals with motor challenges. GaitWay’s mission is to provide and support Conductive Education programs for individuals with motor disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy, Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury or Spina Bifida.
Every time you purchase an item offered by Bargains That Benefit (BTB) and choose GaitWay as the beneficiary, BTB will happily donate 20% of the proceeds to GaitWay. It's a WIN - WIN - WIN for Tucson. The consumer (you!) gets a great deal. The participating business creates more business and new potential customers, and the charity or school raises much needed revenue. That is why our slogan is YOU SAVE & TUCSON WINS!
